1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing or using the Benefits app for iPhone and Apple Watch ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not download or use the App.
These Terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Benefits. Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the App Store Terms and Conditions. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
2. Licence to use the App
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
- Copy, modify or distribute the App or any part of it
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code, except where the law allows it
- Sell, sublicense, rent or lend access to the App to anyone else
- Remove any proprietary notices, labels or branding
- Use the App to build a competing product or service
3. A record-keeping tool, not a financial service
Benefits is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not a bank or a financial service: it does not connect to your bank or card accounts, hold money, make payments or move money, and it does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
The totals, budgets, projections and reports in the App are only as accurate as the information entered into it. Categories suggested from merchant names, payments logged by a Shortcuts automation, renewals logged automatically and reminders are conveniences that can be wrong, late or missed — for example if a notification is turned off, an automation does not run, or a merchant name is unfamiliar. Always rely on your bank and card statements for the true position of your accounts, and on your providers for the real renewal dates and prices of your subscriptions.
4. Price and purchases
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store. If the App, or anything in it, is offered for a price, the purchase is made through the App Store and handled by Apple under its terms; refunds are requested from Apple through its usual process. We will update these Terms before introducing any paid feature.
5. Your content and data
Everything you enter into Benefits ("Your Content") remains yours, and you are responsible for it.
Because Your Content is stored on your device and, if you choose, in your private iCloud account — not on our servers — we have no access to it and cannot recover it for you. You are responsible for keeping your own copy: turn on iCloud sync, include Benefits in your iPhone backups, or export a backup from Settings › Backup, export & storage from time to time.
6. Prohibited uses
You agree not to use the App:
- For any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable regulation
- To record or process other people's financial information without their permission
- In any way that could disable, overburden or impair the App or the services it relies on
- To impersonate any person or entity
- For commercial distribution or resale without our written consent
7. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, code, content and branding, belongs to the developer of Benefits and is protected by intellectual property laws. The "Benefits" name and logo are ours. Nothing in these Terms gives you any right in the App beyond the licence in section 2.
Apple, Apple Pay, Apple Wallet, Apple Watch, iCloud, iPhone, Siri and Face ID are trademarks of Apple Inc. Benefits is not made, sponsored or endorsed by Apple, or by any bank or card issuer.
8. Third-party services
The App works with services provided by Apple, including iCloud (CloudKit), Shortcuts, Siri, Wallet, Apple Watch and the App Store. Your use of those services is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy. Some features — such as logging Apple Pay payments through a Shortcuts automation — depend on how Apple's services behave and may change or stop working if Apple changes them. We are not responsible for third-party services.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will log every payment or deliver every reminder, or that its figures will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages — including loss of data, missed payments, late fees, overdraft or subscription charges — arising from or in connection with:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the App
- Any reliance on figures, categories, reminders or reports produced by the App
- Loss of data stored on your device or in iCloud
- Any other matter relating to the App
Our total liability to you for any claim relating to these Terms or the App will not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim, or EUR 10, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of a third party.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at the address in the "Contact us" section. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the courts of Athens, Greece. Nothing in these Terms affects any non-waivable statutory rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
13. Apple App Store — additional terms
These Terms are between you and the developer of Benefits only, not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. To the extent these Terms conflict with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the following applies:
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App, including product-liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer-protection or similar legislation.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling or discharging any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual-property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting," and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
14. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, mention it in the App Store update notes. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the App.
