Logging Apple Pay payments automatically
Benefits uses a Shortcuts automation that runs each time you tap to pay. In Benefits, open Settings › Auto-log Apple Pay payments for step-by-step instructions for your version of iOS. In short: create an automation with the Wallet trigger (called Transaction on older versions of iOS), add the Benefits action Log Card Payment, and connect its Amount, Merchant and Card to the trigger's payment details. Then set each card's Name in Apple Wallet in Benefits so payments land on the right card.
Only Apple Pay taps start the automation. Payments made by typing your card number, and direct debits, need logging by hand or as subscriptions.
Moving to a new iPhone
Turn on Settings › iCloud › Sync with iCloud on your old iPhone and give it a minute to upload. On the new iPhone, choose Sync with iCloud on the last page of the introduction. Without sync, export a full backup (Settings › Backup, export & storage), move the file to the new iPhone and use Restore from backup there.
My data disappeared after I signed out of iCloud
With sync on, iOS removes synced data from the iPhone when you sign out of iCloud or turn iCloud off for Benefits. It comes back when you sign in again with the same Apple Account.
Installing the Apple Watch app
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to Benefits. Open Benefits on your iPhone once so it can send your categories, cards and totals to the Watch.
The widgets show nothing or old numbers
Open Benefits once; widgets refresh from what the app last saved. If they stay empty, remove the widget and add it again.
Locking Benefits
Settings › Privacy › Require Face ID (or Touch ID, or your passcode). Benefits also hides itself in the app switcher while locked, and the spending widget hides its amounts on a locked iPhone.
Deleting everything
Settings › Backup, export & storage › Erase all data. The Privacy Policy explains what that covers.
